While a student at one of the IECC campuses and a participant in the TRiO Student Support Services program, you will be advised by one of our Academic Counselors.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Second year SSS students who have displayed leadership potential are invited to be peer mentors to incoming freshmen, adding one more layer of support.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
THROUGH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT COURSE
Each year, on each IECC campus, the Leadership Development course designs, plans, and implements a community service project. Everything from a Saturday in the park event to fundraisers for local animal shelters, the students in Student Support Services learn what it takes to give back in a big way to their communities.

As part of the WVC Leadership Development course, students supported the cause of Stand Up Against Bullying and brought the Harlem Wizards to area schools and with them, the message of Anti-Bullying to over 2000 kids.
YOUTH-LED DISCUSSIONS AND WORKSHOPS
With coursework in everything from time management and learning the optimum study skills for your learning style, to writing formal resumes and mock interviewing, all the way to designing, planning, and implementing a community service project, you will never be bored with the TRiO Student Support Services college classes.
They are FREE and transferrable to four-year universities​.
Just imagine, for free, skills and information that you will use well past college.
While you are completing your degree through IECC, the Academic Counselors are always looking to what you will need at a four-year univesity should you decide to transfer.
In the Exploring Careers class, you are provided at least one opportunity to job shadow a professional in the field of your interest.

Tutoring is free so should you need Academic Assistance, we are the people to talk to OR should you be a good all-around student, you may even be asked to get paid to be a tutor.
You will be assisted when you apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. In addition you will be offered many opportunities and guidance to apply for scholarships.​
Campus tours of many area four-year universities are provided at no cost to the students.
